How the call-out fee works
A mobile therapist spends time driving to you and back, and carries a massage table, linen, towels and oils. The call-out fee covers that travel. It starts from R150 and depends on where you are — a short trip costs less than a long drive out to the edges of the city.
Two things are worth knowing:
- One call-out fee, several treatments. If two or three people at the same address book treatments, you share one trip. This is why couples massages and small group bookings work out better value per person.
- Parking and estate fees are extra. If your building or estate charges for visitor parking or access, that's for the client's account.
Is a mobile massage worth the extra?
A mobile massage usually costs a little more than walking into a spa, once you add the call-out fee. What you get for that difference is time and comfort:
- No travel either side. You don't sit in traffic before your appointment, and you don't undo the relaxation by driving home afterwards.
- You can book later in the day. We work until 19:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, so an after-work massage doesn't mean rushing across town.
- It suits people who find spas hard to get to — new parents, older relatives, people recovering from a busy season at work, or anyone staying in a hotel without a spa.
If you'd rather compare the whole experience, our guide to what to expect from your first mobile massage walks through the appointment step by step.
Five ways to get better value
- Share the call-out. Book alongside a partner, housemate or friend at the same address.
- Book the length you need. If your tension is mostly in your shoulders and upper back, a 30 or 45-minute back, neck and shoulder massage may be all you need.
- Add a small extra rather than a second visit. A 15-minute foot massage (R130) added to a pedicure is cheaper than booking a separate appointment.
- Look at packages. Our EMB packages combine treatments — for example Me, Myself & "I"rene pairs a full-body massage with a gel mani and pedi for R1100.
- Plan regular sessions. If you have a recurring problem area, ask your therapist how often a maintenance massage would make sense for you.
Which massage should you book?
Choose Swedish if you want to unwind; deep tissue if you have stubborn knots from desk work, training or surfing; and aromatherapy if you want the most calming experience. Not sure? Tell us how you're feeling when you book and we'll recommend one. You'll find more detail on each style on our mobile massage in Cape Town page.
